OfflineHi all! Normally, I will not be interested in comparing companies but this is just too good. Google and Facebook… Who will win? Anyway, I didn't even think of comparing them, not until I saw this article http://www.goodgearguide.com.a…..will_win_/ .. Crazy right? But recently, Facebook went public. We all have heard about it, even Ellen DeGeneres mentioned it on her show. That's how big it is.
The question now – who do you think will survive? Will win? Facebook, as per Michael Deacon (The Telegraph), may be like Myspace in a few years.
You'll know more about what I am talking about in the article. Anyway, just a healthy debate or just a conversation, which company do you think will win or survive?

Hi Marie,
Very interesting topic! Thanks for sharing the link from GoodGearGuide.com.au.
Well, personally, I think Google has proven itself several times already, and of course, they continue to evolve for the better. Facebook, however, shows great promise as well. I think at the moment, it's still too early to predict on who's going to win or survive. Michael Deacon mentioned a lot of valid points, as per the article, but no one can really tell at the moment. But you know, this will really make a lot of people wonder – especially the ones looking to buy shares.
We'll know more later. Let's see what other people think. Everyone's welcome here. ;)
Best regards,
Maria Canda
OfflineI saw this article a few days ago. Even after seeing Deacon's points, I am not convinced that Facebook will turn out as myspace. You know why? Facebook is powerful in so many ways. I have a myspace account but even when it was very 'in', I didn't go there that much. You see a lot of these sites where it says "search someone you know" – so far, you can search someone you know, only on Facebook. Facebook is number 1 to most people coz of its popularity, even my grandma has a Facebook account where she chats and talks about her cat everyday. My mom who admits that she doesn't like the Internet has a Facebook account coz she figured that's the only way she can connect with me. Long lost friends had the opportunity to catch up, where? on Facebook.
They said never say never, but I don't really think Facebook will turn out like myspace in a few years. Except of course if they did a major change that will effect a lot of users in a bad way.
Facebook Vs. Google? Facebook may not win this comparison but I am telling you, Facebook has its own charisma and powers. So if survival is the only question, it will survive. If we talk about comparison to the search engine giant, Facebook may or may not earn points to 'win' but then again, it has its own powers.
